When I walked into the classroom the first day of school my photography skills were below basic. I pretty much new how to press the button on a camera and that's about it. This can be shown in the first few pictures I took for the composition assignment. However as the year progressed my photography actually began to turn into something I was proud of. Looking back on all my photos as I was making my photobook, I was proud to choose so many of my photos to put in. That was weird to me because usually I can only choose a small amount of my projects that I think is good because I am picky. However I actually had an overabudence of photographs that I wanted to add. Working in photoshop and editing all my photos was one of my favorite things to do. All though sorting through hundreds of my pictures just to pick the best ten may seem boring, however, I found it to be really fun. Every single photo that I turned in I was excited to turn in even if it wasn't the best. This class was my best anf favorite class and I am definitly going to take digital photography 2 and probably a lot more photography classes. No I actually have an above basic skill level in photography which I think is something to be proud of. P.S. Hey Mr. Bush none of my pictures are uploading im really sorry but I did get the paragraphs done

For the photo assignment I learned how to use different loghts and angles of the lights to get a different look of you subjects and to creat shadows to make diffent things in your photo stand out. Not only that but I learned how to set up a background and a scene to shoot a picture of in order to get th cleaness looking shot. Lastly I learned about how to create differnt white balances with different lights. To create this set up I hung up a pillow case on a wall and put my subjects on a upside down pan. I alsouse these bed lights to create different lighting. To edit this photo I brought down the vibrance and the saturation all the way, then using the history brush tool I added back the colors of only the flowers to make them pop. The purpose of this assignment was to learn how to pan so the background of an image would be blurry while the subject was clear in motion. We had to learn how to pre focus in order to capture Mr. Bush clearly while the background was blurry as he was riding by on his bike. I put the image in black and white so the exposure would look better in the photograph.
For this assignment the goal was to take multiple pictures of yourself in different poses in one space then layer those photos on top of each other and through some editing in photoshop the end result would be a picture of multiple you in one room. Through this project I learned how to make a layer mask and also how to use the brush tool to conceal and reveal on that layer mask. In photoshop we uploaded the files as a stack. After putting the background (empty background picture) on the bottom we used the lasso tool to outline the one pose of you in that photo. Then we created a layer mask. These steps were repeated with the other layers of pictures with poses of you. To clean up the edges we used the brush tool to conceal and reveal. Out of all of the photoshop assignments that we have done this one was my favorite.
The purpose of this assignment was to take a picture of the school and add in different pictures to create a scene that looks real but isn't actually there. For mine I decided to create a scene that showed a race into a different vortex. Using photoshop I created many different layers to add in each different photo. I also used different layers to create shadows of the pictures to create a more realistic look.
The first picture was a tutorial I did using the history brush. I turned the photo black and white then using the history brush I "painted" over the areas that I wanted to have color. For the last two pictures I followed the turtorial in the link below to turn one of my photos into what looked like a pencil drawing. To do this I had to use a couple different skills which included inverting the photograph, using gaussian blur and many other other tools. http://creativenerds.co.uk/tutorials/how-to-create-an-hand-drawn-authentic-pencil-effect-in-photoshop/
For this assignment i learned To edit this photo I cropped it down and changed the temperature, exposure, contrast, highlight, and shadows. I also dehazed this picture. In order to really bring out the reflection of the light in the lens I boosted the clarity a little bit which also brought out the details in the lens. For this assignment we were asked make a panoramic picture by taking three different pictures in a row then stitching them together in photoshop using the Photomerge tool. I learned from this assignment, how to take panoramic pictures, and also to use different stitching methods in order to make the pictures look flawless when put together and look like the pictures were never three separate photographs. I think I accomplished that in these photos. After stitching the photos together I also cropped out the removed parts of the photo also to get that flawless finish on the photos.
In this subject I learned partially how to capture motion. I really wanted to get a picture of Olivia throwing leaves on the air and I wanted a photo that captured the leaves falling back down in front of her face. Not only that but I didn't just want pictures of her smiling which is why I included pictures of her being goofy. Those pictures really show her personality along with the ones of her smiling. So this week I would say I learned how to capture motion and also how to include different facial expressions in a photo to convey the subjects personality. This photo was a little dark so I increased the exposure. I also increased the vibrance to bring a little more color to the leaves. I really wanter to draw attention to the subjects face so I cropped the image slightly on the left side. This photo didn't really need a lot of edits. The point of this assignment was to teach us how to use lighting to bring out the facial features of a persona and to bring out the shadows in there face. The first assignment was window lighting which included using a reflector sheet of paper to bounce the light from the window onto the other side of the persons face as well. For the studio lighting we had to line up the lights on our person specifically and figure out which position of the lights worked the best for the specific individual.
